NDIS Participants and Providers

NDIS-Informed Counselling for Complex Needs

This page is for NDIS participants — and for providers seeking therapy that understands complexity, risk, and regulation.

Who this is for

  • This service is suitable for NDIS participants who experience ongoing emotional regulation challenges that affect daily functioning, relationships, or participation.

  • It is appropriate for neurodivergent clients with psychosocial disability, particularly where standard therapeutic approaches have not been effective or have not adequately addressed nervous system regulation and safety.

  • This service also supports families who require coordinated, safe therapeutic input, especially where complexity, escalation, or risk needs to be managed carefully and consistently.

  • For providers, this service is suited to those seeking reliable collaboration, clear communication, and therapy that works within agreed roles, boundaries, and participant goals.

How I work within the NDIS

  • My work within the NDIS is guided by clear goals that are aligned with functional outcomes and the participant’s individual plan. Goals are developed collaboratively and reviewed as needed to ensure therapy remains relevant and purposeful.

  • Therapy focuses on supporting emotional regulation, safety, and capacity, recognising that progress is most sustainable when a participant feels secure and understood. Interventions are paced and adjusted to suit the participant’s nervous system and current level of functioning.

  • Participant autonomy and dignity are central to the work. Therapy respects personal choice, lived experience, and individual strengths, while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

  • Communication with participants, families, and providers is professional, timely, and direct. Information is shared clearly and appropriately to support coordination without unnecessary complexity.

Therapy should support the plan — not complicate it.

Areas of Experience

Autism & ADHD I work with autistic and ADHD clients using approaches that recognise neurodivergent differences in processing, regulation, and response to demand. Interventions prioritise predictability, environmental fit, and nervous system safety, with a focus on improving functional participation rather than attempting to modify neurodivergent traits.

Emotional dysregulation is addressed as a nervous system response rather than a behavioural choice. My work focuses on identifying early indicators of dysregulation, supporting regulation before cognitive demand, and building strategies that remain accessible during periods of high stress or reduced executive functioning.

Behavioural escalation I have extensive experience supporting clients where behavioural escalation presents safety or participation concerns. Escalation is approached through de-escalation, environmental modification, and predictable responses that reduce perceived threat. The focus is on interrupting escalation cycles and increasing stability across settings.

Psychosocial disability.  My work with psychosocial disability focuses on the functional impact of emotional, cognitive, and regulatory difficulties. Therapy is paced and structured to reduce overwhelm, build capacity gradually, and align with participant goals. Emphasis is placed on sustainability and coordination within the broader support system.

Parent and family systems.  I work with parents and families to address patterns that contribute to ongoing dysregulation and escalation. The focus is on strengthening parental authority through clarity, predictability, and safety, supporting families to function more consistently and reduce risk over time rather than pursuing short-term behavioural compliance.

For NDIS Service Coordinators

My work is provided within a clear scope and set of professional boundaries, ensuring therapy remains focused and appropriate to the participant’s plan.

Reporting is consistent and provided when required, with information communicated clearly and without unnecessary clinical complexity.

I work collaboratively with coordinators and other providers, supporting shared goals while avoiding over-pathologising or adding layers that do not benefit the participant.
